Discovering these gardens and open spaces can be a rewarding experience for any inquisitive person, but they need to be explored on foot if the real joys of discovery and involvement are to be experienced.  The rare and unusal trees and shrubs that thrive in the warmth of the City are a beauty to behold and the quarter of a million bedding plants that are changed twice a year make the gardens a photographer's delight.
